From 1987 to 2020, I worked in the legal field in Sudbury, Ontario and have witnessed the consequences of misunderstanding legal documentation, poor communication with loved ones and inadequate estate planning.
Since 2005, I’ve been involved in work that helps support those affected by terminal illness in the Sudbury District and West Nipissing region. My focus as a Guide and Facilitator in Advance Care Planning (Ontario) has been to lessen fears by bridging the gap in legal documentation and personal care expectations.
My Laurentian University degree concentration was Gerontology. As we age, facing our mortality is complicated and burdened with emotions. Unfortunately, people often bury their feelings; yet, I believe that it is through exploring and preparing for them that control, confidence and freedom prevails.
